Terms of service

These terms are between Alta Business Solutions, which operates Alta Council, and the school or organization whose account this is. Using Alta Council means accepting them. If you are creating an account for a school, you are confirming that you may bind that school.

Alta Council produces AI-generated counsel. It is a thinking aid for a leader who is weighing a hard call, and it is not legal, financial, accounting, employment, or educational compliance advice.

Advisor responses can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date, including about your state’s charter law. Check anything consequential against your authorizer, your counsel, your auditor, and your own judgment before you act on it. The decision, and the responsibility for it, stays with you. That is the design, not a disclaimer.

Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly if you think somebody else has it. You are responsible for what happens under your account. One account is for one person; share a school, not a login.

Your questions, your school profile, and your decision records remain yours. You grant Alta Council only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store your content, to send it to the model provider so advisors can answer, and to show it back to you.

Do not enter personally identifiable student information or records covered by FERPA, and do not enter anything you are not entitled to share.

Do not use Alta Council to break the law, to attack or overload the service, to reverse engineer it, or to resell access to it. Automated scraping of the service is not permitted.

Founding School Program pricing and what it includes are set out on the Founding School Program page. Fees are invoiced, and terms are stated on the invoice. A school may cancel at any time, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for.

Alta Council is offered as it is, without a guarantee that it will always be available or error free. It is a young product run by a small team, and there is no uptime commitment today. If that matters to your school, say so before you sign up rather than after.

To the extent the law allows, Alta Council is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and total liability for any claim is limited to the fees your school paid in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

You may close your account at any time by writing to martez@altacouncil.com. Access may be suspended for a serious or repeated breach of these terms, and you will be told why. You can ask for a copy of your records on the way out.

If these terms change materially, the date at the top changes and account holders are told by email before the change takes effect.
